Now, What Should We Do About Them?

How many of you have collections? Maybe you collected coins, stamps, baseball cards, salt & pepper shakers, matches, figurines, depression glass, holiday ornaments, anything to do with animals, etc. throughout your life. How many of your family and friends have added to your collection?
Where are your collections? Are they displayed so you can enjoy them, or do you have them stored in boxes, perhaps collecting dust, in another part of your house, like a basement or garage, where you may not even be able to access them?
Those of you who know me know I love animals, especially cats. When I got my first cat many, many years ago, friends and family bought me lots of gifts that had a cat theme – socks, stationery, signs, stuffed animals, picture frames, and knick-knacks. I love every gift I received, and I know that those who bought me these gifts did so out of kindness and love.
Now, what should I do with everything I received, and what are you thinking you should you do? I decided to follow the suggestions I give to my clients and figure out what I love, what I am actually using, what I want to continue using, and what I no longer need or want.
Some of you may have collections that are worth money. If you no longer need or want them, have the items appraised. Some collections may be worth a lot, so wouldn’t you rather have the money to buy something that you need or want or to just plain save?
We love our collections, but honestly, if they are not serving any real purpose in our lives, now may be the time to find another home for them – someone who will appreciate them as much as we did. What are your plans for your collections? I’m happy to let you know some available resources – give me a call.
P.S. These are cat signs that I have received throughout the years. Believe it or not, I still love them and have them hanging in different parts of my house.
