It Doesn’t Have to be Overwhelming
(After a Vacation or All Year Long)!
One of the tasks I dislike so much after a vacation is unpacking. I love visiting and experiencing new places, and being home means it’s back to reality. Not that being home is a bad thing, but it could take a while to get back in the swing of things, especially if you are experiencing jet lag.
Laundry is the biggest culprit, along with all the other extraneous things you packed to go with you, souvenirs you may have bought while away, suitcases to store, and mail to go through. I find it stressful to have laundry all over the place, so doing it and putting it away as quickly as possible helps me feel more at peace.
This article will concentrate on laundry. Whether it is just you or your whole family, these tips will help you not only after a vacation, but all year long.
I sort my clothes before washing them. Do you? If so, feel free to follow all four (4) steps. If not, skip step 1.
- Sort your clothes by darks, whites, permanent press/gentle, sheets, and towels.
- Determine what you are going to need right away and do those loads first.
- Hang the items that don’t go in the dryer.
- Fold and put laundry away as soon as everything is dry.
If you don’t live alone, see if you can solicit others in your household to help you. That will surely make the process go quicker. In addition, we can all be good at procrastination, and if doing laundry is something you don’t like (it is a necessity unless you’re planning on always buying new clothes), set your mind up to do it right away. The end result is so worth it.
How are you going to handle the laundry after a vacation and during the year?
